 Logging Properties   |   Main logging Options


  • Split Logfiles
    This options allows you to split the files resulting logging to a set size. Split logging files will have "[n+1]" appended to the filename.

  • Maximal size
    This will set the maximum size of the logfile. If the size is reached Sniff'em will stop logging

  • Stop if free disk space drops below
    This option will force Sniff'em to stop logging as soon as the available freedisk space drops below set value.

  • Path
    This option sets the ROOT logging directory. Use the >...< button to easily assign a drive and a corresponding Path.
    'Note : Sniff'em is able to log to Network Drives.

  • Subdirectories
    See Shortcut List for the Options. You can assign a huge variety of dynamic directories.
    Examples :
    y\m\d.dn è Root\2001\April\Friday.13
    y\mn\dn  è Root\2001\04\13

  • Filename
    This sets the Filename which will be saved in Root\Subdirectory. You can assign a static part of the Filename (here "Log.")
    Additional available options for the Filename are "t" and "tt".
    Log.t  è Root\Subdirectory\Log.13.10.12.sem (13.13.12 stands for 13hr 13minutes 12 Seconds, which is the Starting time of the Log)
    Log.tt è Root\Subdirectory\Log.13.10.12-15.56.21.sem (13.13.12 stands for the Start Time, 15.56.21 stands for the Ending time)

  • Extension
    Sniffem ProjectèSaves the resulting LOG files under the SEM extension in a Compressed and Encrypted Format.
    CSV [Hex Data]èSaves the resulting LOG files under the CSV extension. This file can be easily opened with Excel (TM), Access (TM)
    CSV [without Data]èSaves the resulting LOG files under the CSV extension. This file lacks the DATA portion.
    HTML èSaves the resulting LOG files under the HTML extension. This file lacks the DATA portion.
    Human ReadableèSaves the resulting LOG files under the TXT extension. This file lacks the DATA portion.

    This panel shows the result of your Previous Settings. Make sure everything is set as you wanted by checking this spot.
